OWNERSHIP

The brochure ends at the showroom. Ownership starts there.

The practical questions about dealers, servicing, warranty, parts, roadside support and running costs.

Ownership is more than the warranty.

The L8 comes with a 7-year/100,000-mile vehicle warranty, an 8-year/100,000-mile high-voltage battery warranty and up to 7 years of RAC roadside assistance. Those are important numbers, but a sensible ownership check goes further.

And ownership starts with whether the car actually works for your day-to-day life. See the L8 dimensions, boot space and practicality checks →

VEHICLE 7 years 100,000 miles
BATTERY 8 years 100,000 miles
ROADSIDE Up to 7 years RAC assistance

The practical ownership questions start inside the car too: controls, storage, seating position and the everyday usability of the cabin.

The dealer question

Before you buy, find the nearest authorised LEPAS retailer and work out how practical it would be to use them for servicing, warranty work and support. A national network is growing, but your personal nearest dealer matters more than the headline network size.

Servicing & maintenance

Ask for the servicing schedule, expected intervals and pricing. Also ask which work is required to maintain warranty coverage and what happens if you use a different repairer.

Area Question to ask
Servicing How often does the L8 need servicing and what is the expected price?
Warranty What is covered, what is excluded and what conditions apply?
Parts How are replacement parts sourced and what is the expected process if a part is unavailable?
Breakdown Who provides roadside assistance and for how long?
Resale What support or warranty transfers to the next owner, if applicable?

What ownership could look like in practice

The most useful way to assess a new car brand is to think through the boring moments before they happen: booking a service, needing a warranty repair, replacing a tyre, arranging roadside assistance, charging before a long trip and eventually selling the car.

BEFORE DELIVERY Check the basics Confirm trim, specification, charging equipment, warranty documents and who your supplying retailer is.
MONTH TO MONTH Build a routine Charge when convenient, monitor energy/fuel use and keep the service schedule somewhere easy to find.
IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG Know the route Keep the retailer, warranty and RAC assistance details available before you need them.
WHEN YOU SELL Think ahead Keep service history, receipts and warranty information. Ask what transfers to a subsequent owner.

The PHEV ownership routine

The L8 is designed to make charging useful without making it mandatory. If you regularly plug in, more of your shorter journeys can be electric. If you cannot charge, the petrol engine gives the car another way to travel. That flexibility is the main ownership distinction between the L8 and a full EV.

Routine What to think about
Overnight If you have home charging, decide when you normally plug in and whether your electricity tariff makes off-peak charging useful.
Weekly Look at your actual mileage rather than relying on the headline 56-mile WLTP figure.
Long trips Decide whether you want to start with a full battery and use the petrol engine as backup, or plan charging stops.
Servicing Ask the retailer for the exact schedule and pricing for your trim before committing.
One question worth asking the retailer “If I have a warranty issue with the hybrid or high-voltage system, who actually handles the diagnosis and repair, and where is the nearest facility?” The answer matters more than a generic statement that the car has a long warranty.

Your pre-purchase ownership checklist

Get an insurance quote Use the exact trim and registration details where possible.
Locate the nearest retailer Check the actual journey from home or work, not just the national network size.
Ask for service pricing Get expected service intervals and prices in writing if available.
Ask about parts Find out how the retailer handles parts that are not held locally.
Understand warranty exclusions Long duration does not mean every component is covered for the entire period.
Check your charging options Know where you would charge at home and on your regular long-distance routes.
